Hair plopping is a heatless drying technique that is perfect for those with wavy to curly hair. This method involves wrapping the hair into a micro-fiber towel to air-dry curls. Surprisingly, a cotton tee shirt can be used as an alternative and works just as well. At first, it may seem like plopping your hair is the same as using the hair wrap technique, but this method is more gentle for your curls because it avoids twisting the hair.

Here’s how to perfectly plop your hair with R+F Haircare:

Step 1: Apply Define+ Curl Cream to damp, clean hair. This can be worked from your scalp to the ends.

Step 2: Grab a micro-fiber towel or cotton tee shirt. Lean forward, flipping your hair to the front, and drape the towel over the back of your hair.

Step 3: Hold your curls in place the best you can as you wrap the towel or tee shirt towards the front of your head.

Step 4: Twist the remaining fabric into a tail and tuck it into the fabric on the back of your head. This will secure the wrap.

You’ll want to leave your hair in this plopped position for 20 minutes to an hour depending on the texture or density of your hair.

Step 5: Remove the micro-fiber towel or tee shirt and give your curls a healthy shine by applying the Defrizz+ Oil Treatment in a scrunching motion. Start at the ends of your hair and scrunch upwards to lock in hydration and encourage your natural wave or curl pattern.
