10 Things Women With Great Skin Do For Their Skin

10 Things Women With Great Skin Do For Their Skin

As the Rodan + Fields product-expert-in-residence, Mary Radford, RN, knows a thing or two about getting flawless-looking skin. These are 10 daily habits she, and other women she’s encountered, swear by:

1. Eat well. What you put into your body is as important as the products you put on your face. Eat a healthy diet, including a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. They’re packed with vitamins and antioxidants that can do wonders for your complexion.

2. Drink lots of water. When you’re properly hydrated, skin looks and feels softer, smoother and younger. Mary recommends drinking extra water during and after exercise and when you’re out in the sun and heat.

3. Exercise regularly: Daily exercise not only boosts your mood; it relieves stress, improves circulation and can lead to more radiant skin.

4. Hands off. Breakout-triggering, pore-clogging bacteria is everywhere. Avoid touching your face, and when you do, wash your hands with soap and water first. Keep the other objects that touch your face as germ-free as possible, too. Clean your cell phone regularly, and sanitize your makeup brushes and applicators weekly.

5. Wear SPF. A broad-spectrum sunscreen is “the most important product to use every day,” Mary says. Yes — every single day, rain or shine, indoors or out. Remember to apply it to your neck, chest and hands, too.

6. Seek shade. Speaking of the sun, your best bet is to stay out of it. “Get your Hollywood on,” says Mary, with a wide-brimmed hat and large sunglasses to protect your face and eyes from damaging rays.

7. Wash nightly. Each day, your skin is exposed to pollution, bacteria, sweat and grime, not to mention makeup. None of these things belong on your face — or your pillow.

8. Cleanse kindly. Don’t traumatize your skin. Stick to lukewarm water (too-cold or too-hot water can be irritating) and avoid overzealous scrubbing.

9. Exfoliate regularly. Use a gentle product, like ENHANCEMENTS Micro-Dermabrasion Paste, on your face and body up to three times per week to reveal brighter, smoother and softer-looking skin.

10. Moisturize daily. As you age, notes Mary, natural moisture levels decrease. If skin is over dry, it can become easily irritated or start over-producing oil.  All skin types can benefit from our Active Hydration Serum; according to an 8-day U.S. clinical study, it increases hydration levels by 200% after just one use and keeps it there for eight hours.

Does Glass Block UVA/UVB Rays?

Does Glass Block UVA/UVB Rays?

While window glass effectively blocks UVB rays, UVA rays, which cause premature signs of aging, still get through.

This means that whether you’re sitting at a desk by a window, are in a window seat on a plane, or are in a car, your skin is likely being exposed to damaging rays.

Studies have found that in the United States, skin damage is worse on the left side of the face and body since that’s where we sit when driving. Windshield glass is usually treated to block UVA and UVB rays, but side windows are not.

To best protect yourself, slather on the SPF each morning, whether you’re going out or staying in, and reapply every two hours.

If you need to restock your supply (or get an extra for the car), we have sunscreen for your BODY, and one for every Regimen: REDEFINE, REVERSE, UNBLEMISH and SOOTHE.

Share this with friends or family members. It could save their skin — and their lives.

Fact or Myth? You Should Wear Sunscreen Indoors

Fact or Myth? You Should Wear Sunscreen Indoors

DID YOU KNOW? ?

?That you should be wearing SPF when you are inside, too.

Why? It turns out that UV exposure from lamps and other indoor light sources has the potential to harm your skin. Over time, UV exposure can add up, causing skin damage and early signs of aging.

Indoor sources of potentially harmful UV exposure include fluorescent bulbs, halogen lamps and even tablet and computer screens. It’s not just your face you should be concerned about: UV curing lamps used during gel manicures have the potential to damage the skin on your hands. (Tip: Bring your REDEFINE Age Shield Hand Balm with SPF 30 to the nail salon.) PM me for the best options to suit your budget 🙂

Facing Your Skins Future – Collagen Breakdown

Facing Your Skins Future – Collagen Breakdown

The aging process accelerates with time.
For example, starting at the age of 18, the average person loses 1% of collagen & elastin each and every year.  By the time we reach mid-thirties, the loss rate of collagen & elastin doubles to 2%. By the time we reach our 50s, that rate has doubled again to around 4%.
Take care of your skin with products proven to work!

Did You Know?  Much like the tip of an iceberg, our body and our skin ages every day but you may not notice these signs until they build up to a point when they suddenly become visible. It’s called the “tipping point”. Imagine waking up to this change when you’re 35, 45, or 50!!!

This is why it is so important to take care of your skin because this ‘tipping point’ started way back as a result of a degradation process that started at the age of 18.

Don’t put off taking care of your skin…it’s worth the extra effort! #skincarepartners

Revitalizing Your Reverse Regimen For Dry Winter Skin

Revitalizing Your Reverse Regimen For Dry Winter Skin

Revitalizing Your Reverse Regimen For Dry Winter Skin

Did you know that a drop in the temperature can drop your surface moisture, leaving skin feeling dry, tight and even chapped. So use extra care throughout your skincare routine.

“Be sure to use a light touch when cleansing with REVERSE Deep Exfoliating Wash  #1 by using your fingertips to gently massage over the entire face,” Mary suggests. “This mitigates overworking the skin — especially the cheek area.”

Adding extra hydration to the REVERSE Brightening or REVERSE Lightening Regimen  also will benefit dry winter skin. Mary notes that “applying Active Hydration Serum twice a day over the entire face after cleansing and toning will not only reduce the cycle of dryness but reduce visible pores and fine lines, helping skin to look younger and more radiant.”

In an eight-day US clinical study, this breakthrough serum instantly raised skin’s hydration level by 200% after just one use, and maintained it for up to eight hours. The reason? Active Hydration Serum is formulated with our patent-pending 3D3P Molecular Matrix, which draws in moisture from the atmosphere and locks it in.

And hydrated skin not only looks healthier, but is also primed to more readily accept ingredients from products that are layered on top. This means Active Hydration Serum actually boosts the brightening or lightening benefits of your REVERSE Regimen. You’ll address your discoloration concerns — such as the appearance of dullness or stubborn dark spots — plus see smoother, softer and more radiant-looking skin. (To discover where Active Hydration Serum fits into your particular REVERSE Regimen, check out this video.)

Our research backs up these results: In an 8-week clinical study, participants who added Active Hydration Serum to their REVERSE Regimen experienced more even-looking skin with a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As we said in our previous article about the benefits of pairing the REDEFINE Regimen with Active Hydration Serum, it’s a win-win all around.

Step up your REVERSE Lightening or REVERSE Brightening Regimen with Active Hydration Serum today.
